Desert on Water

Before the dawn with a slight breeze on the water yesterday, I got frozen even wearing a down jacket, in the afternoon with no wind and a burning sun on the water yesterday, I got near sunstroke covering my head with a soaked bandana in Columbia River. It was like desert on water.

Also this weather and water of Columbia River give a plentiful agriculture here.

僅かな風が吹く夜明け前の水上は、ダウンジャケットを着込んでいても凍える寒さで、同日の午後焼き付くような日差しと無風の水上は、日射病直前の逃げ場のない暑さでコロンビア川の水に浸したバンダナを頭に巻き付ける。まるで水上の砂漠だ。

この強烈な太陽とコロンビア川から吸い上げる水が、この土地に豊かな農業を与えている。
